Skin Resurfacing Treatments

With virtually no side effects and excellent results in resurfacing the skin, this is a safe and reliable procedure for various skin conditions. Microdermabrasion is an effective treatment for reducing lines, acne and burn scars, pigment changes, contracting pores and enhancing skin texture. Microdermabrasion is excellent as an adjunct therapy to accelerate or maintain other skin treatments because mild abrasion and suction to the surface of your skin removes the top layer of dead skin cells. This allows skin care products to be absorbed more effectively.

No recovery time is required. After your first treatment, you will notice a healthy pink glow to your skin. You may apply mineral makeup immediately and resume normal activities. Your skin will appear softer, smoother and younger looking. Fine lines and age spots will be less visible. Superficial acne scars will also soften in time. To protect your new skin, you must wear an SPF of at least 20, as skin will be more sensitive to sun damage for the next week or two. A series of treatments is recommended to achieve the best results.

Chemical Peels

A chemical peel involves the use of a chemical solution to improve and smooth the texture of the facial skin by removing its damaged outer layers. Chemical peels increase cellular turnover which in turn refines the epidermis and treats environmentally damaged, acne prone, sensitive, dry and oily conditions.

“Layers” refers to the number of applications of chemicals applied to the skin , not layers of skin removed. However, the more layers of chemicals, the more intense the peel. Microdermabrasion can be combined with some peels which intensifies the effects of the chemicals.

With all skin resurfacing treatments it is recommended that a series of treatments be performed for best results. Proper home treatment is a must to nourish and protect after the treatment.
